Polar Bear AdaptationsMany of the polar bear's physical adaptations help maintain body heat and deal with their icy habitat: their white fur helps to camouflage the bear in the snow and ice. A polar bears footpads are to help them from slipping on ice and snow. Polar bears are very large and have a thick layer of fat under their skin to keep them warm in the cold climate. Also polar bears have adapted to a strict carnivore diet.
Potential AdaptationsPolar bears can swim but they are not the best swimmers if they were adapted to be able to swim very well the melting of ice would not necessarily affect them as much. Also if polar bears were able to sustain warm weather as well as cold weather they could possibly survive. Since polar bears are already adapted to sustain cold weather maybe if they had adaptations to sustain hot and cold weather they wouldn't be endangered. For example if polar bears could shed their fur they would be able to sustain the heat when it get warm, so then they could sustain cold and warm weather.
